My Story
I grew up in Memphis and the only time I lived anywhere else was during the 4 years I went to college at the University of Kentucky. I love Memphis. My hometown has a rich history filled with pain and joy. Memphis is a city of hope and I am blessed to be able to serve and grow and do life here.
Preaching the Good News is not something I can boast about. I am compelled by God to do it. How terrible for me if I didn’t preach the Good News! 1 Corinthians 9:16
In 1993 I married Patrick Nelson. We are the parents of 3 daughters and 1 son. The biggest practical lessons I have learned to date have come from raising and loving these four kids. I have the precious gift of being a biological mother and the mother of an adopted daughter from Russia.
I have grown a lot by learning the practical lessons, but the biggest change in my life and the greatest learning has come from the miracle that the Holy Spirit has done in removing the blinders from my eyes and heart. I love Jesus. I am passionate about being in God’s word and I am humbled by what He continues to teach me as I open His word.
Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you. Matthew 7:7
As the mom of 4 teenagers, my life is full of learning. I am learning from my mistakes, and from the things I occasionally get right. I am learning about grace and love and laughter, and as I learn, I am falling more in love with our Heavenly Father.
It is my sincere prayer that this blog will…
- Encourage you as a parent
- Reinforce your understanding of scripture
- Bring joy to your environment
- Help you laugh at the days to come
- And maybe even inspire you in the kitchen.
Thank you for walking along side me as I seek to live out the gospel.
